| Gus Hernandez scored 2 goals and Anthony Mondi’s goal with under 10 minutes to go turned out to be the game winner as the Mechanics rebounded from a big loss in their scrimmage against Brookdale last week to open their 2008 season up with a conference win. Pat Forrest made several key saves to preserve the win while junior Mike Moyer had an outstanding game as well. [close] |

Annual Alumni game |
4-3, L |

|
It was a spirited game between the alumni team and this year’s varsity squad and the final results could not have been any closer. A late goal by Evan Heavy put the varsity up 3-2 in regulation but a goal with just under 3 minutes later by alum Johan Banfield forced the game to be decided by penalty kicks. After 10 rounds of penalty kicks the 2 teams were still tied (5-5). They then were forced to go into sudden death penalty kicks with the alumni team finally besting the varsity 3-2 in sudden death kicks to come away with a 4-3 victory. It was just the 2nd time since the alumni game was started that the alumni team has come away with a victory. Special thanks to the over 15 alums who came back to make it such a great event.
